Discovering your creative self...by yourself!

Hey there all!
So, I've always loved art of all kinds, from performing arts to plastic arts...I just never thought that my creativity, limited as it is, would ever allow me to develop creative skills of any kind.
I considered myself clumsy, with both hands and feet, and with those thoughts in my head, I built a wall in my head that didn't allow creativity to flow.

It took me years to realize that only one's self can limit creativity, BUT, it starts from when we enter our educational lives, or what most people think of as "school".

One of my college teachers once told me a story, after I failed miserably on one of our biology experiments, the story was about a young boy who had a huge imagination, an imagination so wonderful he could create anything with it, just like all young children.

On this young boy's first day of preschool, once they were settled down in class, the teacher told them they would be drawing a flower, and so, with a huge grin on his face (because he LOVED drawing of course) he took out his crayons and started drawing all kinds of crazy flowers, all different shapes, colors and sizes; when the teacher walked by his place, she stopped and told him that they were to draw a flower with rounded, red petals, a yellow center and green leaves and stem. And so, the boy looked down at all his pretty drawings and sadly threw them in the trash, he went back to his seat and drew a flower with rounded, red petals, a yellow center and green leaves and stem.

The years went by and the boy grew in to a young man, all the while, being taught how to follow instructions.
When he got to college, he picked Art as his major, and on his first day the teacher told the students they were to draw a flower, all of the other students got to work at once, drawing all kinds of exotic looking flowers in many colors and shades, while the boy from our story sat as his desk, got out a box of crayons and drew a flower with rounded red petals, a yellow center and green leaves and stem.

So, even though education is one of the most important things in life, we should never let go of that small part of ourselves that allows us to dream, to imagine, to create. No matter where we study, who teaches us, what we learn, where we go or what we achieve, we should always keep our imagination on a pedestal, because as far as I'm concerned, it'll keep you happy and it'll keep you sane (happy being the more important one!).
If you think you have let go of, or forgotten even a slight part of that imagination, work hard to get it back, because once we rediscover that part of us, possibilities are endless!

My advice to you?
PLAY! It doesn't matter how long, or with who or what...play with your kids, make believe you are kings and queens, knights in shining armor or ladies in distress...pretend you are fierce animals protecting their lands...play with colors, shapes, sizes and see what comes out of it!
By doing so, not only will you get laughed at, yep...that's right, you'll get laughed at, but who cares?! Be silly, be funny, be adventurous!
You'll love every minute of it and end up being so happy and fulfilled that nothing will ever rain on your parade!
So whaddya say? Shall we turn this:
In to something more along the lines of this:

Cool huh!
